The Bond of Perfectness

It’s always so satisfying to eat delectable prepared dishes, especially after making them with family and friends.

Summertime delights

One of my family’s all-time summer favorite dish is fried-green tomatoes with my special remoulade sauce. Umm umm.

Now don’t get me wrong, we have other summertime favorites such as cinnamon and sugar french toast sticks, which my oldest daughter loves to make. It’s her signature specialty and it has certainly landed as a favorite amongst her siblings, so tastefully divine and crisp to have on a nice summer’s morning.

It’s important to have ways in which you bond with your family. According to Oxford Languages, bonding is having the function to join securely and it can also mean to join or be joined. Every family’s bonding time is different. My family’s bonding time is watching movies together, reading, bowling, baking, traveling, and just sitting around talking to each other. Does your family share some of the same bonding categories as mine? What do you do to bond with your family? It would be great to hear about your family-time bonding moments. Regardless of what ways your family comes together to bond and enjoy each other’s time, it’s just great to sit around and fellowship with the company of great people, sharing thoughts, opinions, and dreams.

Something even greater

One of the greatest things I feel brings the best bonding time, regardless if it’s done as a family or individually, even if individually you can still share what has transpired throughout your day; but giving is such a great way to not only bring about bonding in a family but also to bring joy. Doesn’t it feel good to give? And how much greater does it feel to give while you are sharing in that moment with loved ones. Giving is a way of life. You can give because you are blessed and desire to bless someone else or you can give because it’s simply the right thing to do. There is not a right or wrong time to give but there can be a wrong way in the reason that you give. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

Something to think on

Giving increases your blessings but even if you don’t have it to give, give anyway. Well you may think, well how can I give something I don’t have. In a manner of speaking we all have something to give. Most people think on giving in terms of only money but there are other ways in terms of your time, your experience, or your loyalty are also intangible things that still makes an entire difference.

If you are looking for increase in your life right now but find it hard to give what it is you have, release what it is you possess and give to someone else who needs it and watch as blessings unfold in your life. Not because you give things that you really don’t care about or give a few dollars that really won’t hurt you, I mean giving what will break you in order to make you greater. Watch how God can make you greater by your faithfulness in giving.

A lot of times we stunt our own growth in the prosperity that we should have, even at this very moment because we lack the gift of giving. Giving is an act of charity and charity is the bond to perfectness.

As mentioned, giving is a way of life. The abundance or lack thereof is determined based on your giving. One person gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. Proverbs 11:24 Charity is simply giving; however, although simple it may be, its results are fashioned to release generous rewards. I always find how rewarding it is to see how my children give, especially when not told to. It is so rewarding for me as a parent to know that they realize the significance of giving and already do so at such a young age. This isn’t by chance. It’s because they see the reflection of their parents doing so unto others and teaching them likewise to do the same.

Sometimes it is easier to give when we do have but we should give in good times and even in hard times. It’s like giving praises, God wants us to praise him regardless, when we have and even when we don’t have. The blessing is in the humility of the praise.

Saved by giving

Prayerfully, you are bonding in the perfectness of charity and not blocking your own blessing by being unduly. Hopefully, you are or will use your ways to bond as a way to relate and teach your family and loved ones that giving is the essence of prosperity not only for wealth but also for growth, continuously. As mentioned, bonding is to join or be joined. Bonding can be done in many forms, however, the ultimate price for bonding is creating an atmosphere of togetherness and unity and is done in love. That ultimate price was done long ago and is carried on through the actions of giving.

It’s with much anticipation that you have been enlightened by seeing how bonding can create masterful ways of unity by embracing time with family and incorporating giving in your time of bonding and beyond. There was so much to go into and I look forward to it but for my readers eyes and attention, let’s pick-up on Part 2 of The Bond of Perfectness with an emphasis on title The Strength of a Man. Stay tuned.

Open up your Mouth~Episode 1

Podcast is now available listen here.
Greetings FFC readers,
May you be well! I hope that you were blessed by reading the introductory devotional of Open up your Mouth. If you have not had an opportunity to do so, what are you waiting for? See what it’s all about. There is no wrong season to hear the word of God.

In the previous introductory, unleashing Open up your Mouth, I spoke of how “the words of your mouth” with prayer and praise can be the very break-through that you need in order for God to move. I also spoke on the very thing that you are wrestling with is not “carnal things of this world, it’s spiritual”. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world. – Ephesians 6:12
There is a way to combat your problems and that’s through declaring God’s word over your life.

In this episode, You Have What you Need, you will have a chance to read on the symbolic meanings of how God’s word is the lamp that leads and guide you. In order to be led, you must trust the leader that you are following. You can’t fully speak God’s word over your life or anyone else’s for that matter, if you don’t trust his word and realize that you have everything you need. Are you ready? Let’s dive in.

You have what you need

I like to think of my bible as being a roadmap, a guide. I am starting to dig deeper into my roadmap and as often as I do, I am continually astonished; Jesus truly paid it all. On account of all that he did for us, there is still a part that we need to do and that’s to dedicate our lives to Christ. There is an entire guide that has been created so that you can have what you need to overcome fear, depression, rejection, poverty, sickness, or troublesome situations you may face. Everything that you need only takes your believe and trusting that God will do what he says he will.

Let’s talk about this lamp. Psalm 119:105 acknowledges that “the word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path“. There are figurative ways that are indicated on how lamp is used throughout the bible. I want to highlight on this aforementioned scripture.

The lamp above-mentioned is symbolic to God’s word. His word, the scriptures, are a reflection of who he is and what he is all about. Getting to know Jesus is a lifestyle. No one fully knows or understands the will of God but you can learn more about him in his word.

The lamp is used to provide light and that light directs a path step by step. What we encounter and the problems we face is not new to Christ, it’s only new to us. That’s why it is so profitable for us to trust what was already laid out because it is a fail-proof plan.

The greatest proof to the plan is how the example was laid out on how to trust even in the worst circumstance. God gave us his son, a solution and through that solution we were redeemed. The redemption was a step-by-step process and throughout that process of being led, there had to be trust. Again, in order to be led throughout your process, you must trust the leader in which you are following. Who are you following? The step-by-step process was how 1. The word (God) became flesh. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 2. Christ was crucified on the cross to redeem us. “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.” John 1:29 3. Christ rose from the dead. “He is risen.” Mathew 28:6 In these three steps, we see the redemptive process that Christ went through for you and I, the fail-proof plan. And just as all of this, there is still a step by step process for you to continue to trust the light as you are guided on your path.

As you’ve encountered how the significance of the light unto my path symbolism is to trust Jesus and follow him, you can also understand that although things may not always be easy, you still have to continue in order to get to your appointed destination. Through the process of hardship to blessing, you still had to trust in God’s timely plan. When you are driving down a winding dark road and it seems even your headlights aren’t bright enough to guide the way, you still trust and believe that God will see your way through, hence which is why you continue to drive.

Although we can’t see where the path leads in our life, A. Jesus has given us what we need, which is his word, for us to believe it and declare it over our circumstance, over our dreams and B. he gives us just enough (such as light in this reference) so that we can continue to put our trust in him as we take it step-by-step.

You have everything you need to overcome your problem. Say this prayer, Jesus, show me my path and as I travel along this journey of life, I put my trust in you. I want your word to fill my heart and come out of my mouth. Help me to understand your word and give me the courage to speak your word knowing that in it there is divine power. I will trust the path that you are leading me on and throughout this journey allow your light to shine through me. In Jesus name, Amen.

Prayerfully Episode 1, You Have What you Need of Open up your Mouth series has enlightened you on the importance of trusting the direction God is taking you by using your roadmap and declaring God’s word. As mentioned, You can’t fully speak God’s word over your life or anyone else’s for that matter, if you don’t trust his word or believe that you have everything you need. Your Bible is your roadmap and the word in it directs your path. Stay tuned to Episode 2, The Silent Commune.

Continue below to delight yourself in this devotional introduction of “Open up Your Mouth.”

Readers, take a walk with me on this journey series of Open Up your Mouth. This will be a 4-part episode revealing how you can liberate yourself simply by speaking God’s word over your life with power, with authority silently and openly. Open up Your Mouth will dive into the hidden deception that Satan tries to use to discourage from using a very powerful weapon, your mouth, to speak the word of God. There are limitless possibilities in your life if only you would believe. Open Up your Mouth and “call those things which be not as though they were.” Romans 4 verse 17

Speak boldly as you ought to speak

So in prayer, research, meditation, and writing, I have had the best time learning more myself on how to speak boldly and declaring the word of God. One of the biggest reasons why it can be so hard to speak the word out loud is because of fear. I have written a number of works on fear and how to overcome it and in the end it comes down to your faith.

We are so loved by God, he says, “don’t fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name; you are mine. ” -Isaiah 43 verse 1 If you are consumed with fear, how strong is your faith? Satan will try to use different tactics of fear to imprision your faith. Open up your Mouth and speak God’s word over your life, over your body, over your family, “that you may open your mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel.” -Ephesians 6 verse 19 You should be “speaking boldly as you ought to speak. The power of life and death is in your tongue.” Speak life in your life.

The words of your mouth

Sometimes it can feel mentally draining to read your bible or to even pray. This is not where we want to be in our spiritual relationship. The reason you can feel mentally exhausted just to even think on praying can signify being bound and a lack faith. To think on the goodness of Jesus is a blessing not a burden. In Lamentations 3 verse 25, it says, “the Lord is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him.” When you cannot succumb to opening your mouth to pray or praise you are allowing the enemy to take control over blocking your blessing, over your peace, over your break-through, and over that very thing that you know you need God to do in your life.

What are you wrestling with?

To speak the word of God boldly requires for you to Open up your Mouth and do just that. Have you ever felt like, every time you go to pray, it seems like it’s just so much you are dealing with that you don’t know where to start? There are so many things that you can be wrestling with that you don’t know what to say, not even to be bold about it. It’s not the carnal things of this world, it’s spiritual. Even the attacks in your life, on your job, against your marriage, is spiritual. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world.” – Ephesians 6 verse 12 The scripture aforementioned says, “we wrestle.” Have you ever watched wrestling? Perhaps while younger you wrestled with your siblings or you may have seen other kids doing so. When wrestling, you often notice one person has the other person in a locked position. The objective is not about how many rolls or moves you make, it’s mainly about how long you can keep that person in the same position for the longest time. It’s about how long you can pin your opponent down.

This is it.

This is what the enemy tries to do, get you in a locked position for as long as he can. His objective is to pin you down (kill), keep you quiet (steal), torment you (destroy). Satans mission is clear; is yours? Does the enemy have your mouth shut so that you are too fearful or tired to speak God’s word in your life? Are you locked up, bound and confused? What is your mission? Your greatest weapon is to remove the chains that has bound you by Opening up your Mouth and speaking God’s word. Don’t allow Satan to put you in a position where you are enslaved to his tricks and tactics. You are not a slave to fear! Your blessing and your deliverance starts and ends in speaking God’s word. Meditate on the word, pray the word, speak the word. Open up your Mouth.

Prayerfully this devotional introduction of Open up your Mouth has begun to start a heart-changing effect in your life. Stay tuned to Episode 1. Again, sign-up to receive FFC’s monthly newsletter. Family-Life Balance

Essentially, who you are is what is needed

Find time to spend with those that are dear to you. Enjoy creating memories as you take the time to show concern and care for those that enjoy your presence. Life is too short to put up with false pretenses and facades. Your time is valuable, use it with those that want to be around you and need you. Spending time with your family, your children is essential. In essence, at the core, around you is your family. Take a moment to thank God for creating all the wonderful people that surround you in your life and well, if they are not so wonderful, prayer can change that.

This past year has not been easy for some. A lot of folks have still had to work through this pandemic and may have felt like they have worked more harder than ever just to meet demands. Even with all the demands of work, you still may have not had a chance to spend the quality time you need with your family or let alone yourself. “If you genuinely love what you do and are doing it for the right reasons, you are more than entitled to spend all of your waking hours plugging away. But for many, more work leads to more stress and a lower quality of life. Without time to unwind, take care of your home, spend time with loved ones, enjoy your hobbies, -this can cause stress. Stress is the #1 cause of health problems-mentally and physically.” -G.E. Miller The U.S. is the Most Overworked Developed Nation in the World

Where is your balance?

Working and working without having a balance can lead to serious problems emotionally and physically. I know that just the idea of giving time away to someone else while you are trying to figure out your own ordeals and problems may already be enough to deal with. While being in a pandemic you may have noticed that you haven’t spent as much time with your family no greater than before the pandemic. Maybe you couldn’t have because you are an essential worker and your job demanded your skill or maybe you were locked in a room taking virtual calls all-day or perhaps it has been just too much of a routine, staring at the same people and it caused you to become disconnected from your family, from your children, from your-self. “70% of American children live in households where all adults are employed.” -G.E. Miller You may be part of that 70%, I am. So how do you make room for the ones you love? I say, make room the same way you make room to get up every morning and punch a clock, because you have to but more so because you need to. Whatever the reason may be from why you haven’t been able to spend as much time with your family as you would like, it’s not the end and it’s never too late to place value on your time with family. You can start now. Start doing something that can be small but yet meaningful and is fun for you all.

Some of my family favorites that my husband and I have still tried to incorporate throughout this pandemic is our Friday movie and pizza night. I made a conservative effort, especially going into this year to not lose our values and to still make time to enjoy each other. Bowling is also starting to become a thing for us and we all seem to do it quite well, (especially with more practice) 🙂

Kids are still kids

It’s so easy to get lost in the sauce when you have so many other things that demand your attention but family is important. Spending time with your children is even more so important and critical. A lot of kids have spent this past year in a home secluded from the people that makes them happy such as their friends and their social outlets. These kids have had to learn how to re-define the way in which they live, do schoolwork and at the same time deal with the pressures of a forever changed society. For some kids this had led to depression. Imagine how this may have affected a child that is extroverted- needing to be around others, sociable, outspoken, and likes the attention of those around him/her. Just think about how this may have impacted your child. This is why it’s important to find that time just to sit down and make it a point to let your kids know that they are heard, loved, and cared for.

The part you play

What can you do to implement more time with your family? Is it making it in time for dinner to sit around the table and talk about the day? Is it even cooking dinner to begin with, lol? Is it talking about their goals and future? How about reading to your kids, maybe have them read to you, or even baking with your kiddos. My kids love to bake . They get that from yours truly and I get it from my mom.

Banana Bran Muffins baked for the fam

Baking is such a great way to bond and create memories with your kids. I try not to do this so often but I can’t seem to help myself, but generally, no usually, I use baking as a method to teach about life lessons. Like the use of eggs in a baking a cake, it provides structure and texture to the cake. Finding ways to incorporate life lessons in the act of baking is just a way that I notice that what I say sticks butter, sorry I mean sticks better 🙂 Aside from God, parents know their kids better than anyone else and however works best to get that solemn message across the right way, use it.

On this day, on every day that you are graced with, take a moment to say, “what can I do differently than before when it comes to spending time with my family?” This could be as a whole or perhaps one on one time with one of your kids that need an extra nudge of attention. Perhaps it is even one on one time with your spouse who needs that extra love to. Make it a great day and be blessed.
