Open up your Mouth~Episode 1

Podcast is now available listen here.
Greetings FFC readers,
May you be well! I hope that you were blessed by reading the introductory devotional of Open up your Mouth. If you have not had an opportunity to do so, what are you waiting for? See what it’s all about. There is no wrong season to hear the word of God.

In the previous introductory, unleashing Open up your Mouth, I spoke of how “the words of your mouth” with prayer and praise can be the very break-through that you need in order for God to move. I also spoke on the very thing that you are wrestling with is not “carnal things of this world, it’s spiritual”. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of the darkness of this world. – Ephesians 6:12
There is a way to combat your problems and that’s through declaring God’s word over your life.

In this episode, You Have What you Need, you will have a chance to read on the symbolic meanings of how God’s word is the lamp that leads and guide you. In order to be led, you must trust the leader that you are following. You can’t fully speak God’s word over your life or anyone else’s for that matter, if you don’t trust his word and realize that you have everything you need. Are you ready? Let’s dive in.

You have what you need

I like to think of my bible as being a roadmap, a guide. I am starting to dig deeper into my roadmap and as often as I do, I am continually astonished; Jesus truly paid it all. On account of all that he did for us, there is still a part that we need to do and that’s to dedicate our lives to Christ. There is an entire guide that has been created so that you can have what you need to overcome fear, depression, rejection, poverty, sickness, or troublesome situations you may face. Everything that you need only takes your believe and trusting that God will do what he says he will.

Let’s talk about this lamp. Psalm 119:105 acknowledges that “the word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path“. There are figurative ways that are indicated on how lamp is used throughout the bible. I want to highlight on this aforementioned scripture.

The lamp above-mentioned is symbolic to God’s word. His word, the scriptures, are a reflection of who he is and what he is all about. Getting to know Jesus is a lifestyle. No one fully knows or understands the will of God but you can learn more about him in his word.

The lamp is used to provide light and that light directs a path step by step. What we encounter and the problems we face is not new to Christ, it’s only new to us. That’s why it is so profitable for us to trust what was already laid out because it is a fail-proof plan.

The greatest proof to the plan is how the example was laid out on how to trust even in the worst circumstance. God gave us his son, a solution and through that solution we were redeemed. The redemption was a step-by-step process and throughout that process of being led, there had to be trust. Again, in order to be led throughout your process, you must trust the leader in which you are following. Who are you following? The step-by-step process was how 1. The word (God) became flesh. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1 2. Christ was crucified on the cross to redeem us. “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.” John 1:29 3. Christ rose from the dead. “He is risen.” Mathew 28:6 In these three steps, we see the redemptive process that Christ went through for you and I, the fail-proof plan. And just as all of this, there is still a step by step process for you to continue to trust the light as you are guided on your path.

As you’ve encountered how the significance of the light unto my path symbolism is to trust Jesus and follow him, you can also understand that although things may not always be easy, you still have to continue in order to get to your appointed destination. Through the process of hardship to blessing, you still had to trust in God’s timely plan. When you are driving down a winding dark road and it seems even your headlights aren’t bright enough to guide the way, you still trust and believe that God will see your way through, hence which is why you continue to drive.

Although we can’t see where the path leads in our life, A. Jesus has given us what we need, which is his word, for us to believe it and declare it over our circumstance, over our dreams and B. he gives us just enough (such as light in this reference) so that we can continue to put our trust in him as we take it step-by-step.

You have everything you need to overcome your problem. Say this prayer, Jesus, show me my path and as I travel along this journey of life, I put my trust in you. I want your word to fill my heart and come out of my mouth. Help me to understand your word and give me the courage to speak your word knowing that in it there is divine power. I will trust the path that you are leading me on and throughout this journey allow your light to shine through me. In Jesus name, Amen.

Prayerfully Episode 1, You Have What you Need of Open up your Mouth series has enlightened you on the importance of trusting the direction God is taking you by using your roadmap and declaring God’s word. As mentioned, You can’t fully speak God’s word over your life or anyone else’s for that matter, if you don’t trust his word or believe that you have everything you need. Your Bible is your roadmap and the word in it directs your path. Stay tuned to Episode 2, The Silent Commune.
